Drivers
The driving industry is one of the hardest working industries in the United States. Drivers, helpers, loaders and mechanics all work long hours to make sure that goods arrive on time and in good condition. Under federal law, drivers that drive vehicles in excess of 10,000lbs in interstate commerce for a motor carrier are exempt from overtime. However, due to recent changes within the FLSA, many drivers may now be considered to be non-exempt.
Local delivery drivers, as well as lawn care professionals, couriers, and other employees that use vehicles in performance of their job duties may now be able to receive overtime compensation under federal law for working over 40 hours in a workweek.
